beautiful roses…
These roses graced the table at our daughter’s going away party on Saturday. She left yesterday to spend a year in South Korea….our house is too quiet without her.
I am keeping busy unpacking boxes, letting go of stuff I don’t need and getting reorganized. As I clear out the clutter, I make room for more creating and moving forward with art licensing.

Moving time is near…
Moving is stressful without a doubt…combining moving and remodeling really raises the stress level. My family has been remodeling our home and this week is crunch time…On January 31 we will officially be moved into our new residence….the major remodeling projects will end, and the unpacking, organizing and settling in will begin. I am ready to get back to creating art and enjoying my new view!

Day 39 of 61 days challenge
At Christmas time we all have memories of family, friends, food and traditions that we reflect back on and continue with each year. One of my memories is a recipe from my oldest sister. Linda was a great cook and she enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She left this earth way too soon…I am thankful for the memories and traditions she helped create for our family. This recipe usually is one that I mix up and my family enjoys through the cold winter months.
****the artwork is not mine…this is the recipe card my sister used****
“May your days be merry and bright and may all your Christmas’ be white….”

prayers
My thoughts and prayers are with those who have suffered great losses during the last two weeks of storms throughout the South.

In tribute
to my dad…I love you Dad…thank you for your love, support, strength and faith in God which has lead and kept our family. You have been a rock to lean on and I am proud that you are my father.
Today is Veterans Day…I salute those who have served and those who are serving. My husband served as a Marine, my brother in the Air Force and my father served in the Navy.

time in a bottle
Sometimes it seems time just runs away from me like a kid in a candy store sprinting down every isle avoiding my attempts to stop it. That is how I feel about this summer…it has gone way too fast and I seem to have lost control of my “to do” list. Well that’s not new; however, I did have big plans to “accomplish” so much this summer along with my daughter. Today when I mentioned to her that we haven’t accomplished anything she gently reminded me that “yes, we have mom,” and she gave me her list of things we have accomplished.
Although most of my list went by the wayside and I haven’t been able to stop time or prolong our summer; that’s ok because important things have happened.
Her remark made me stop and think about this summer…her last summer before she graduates from college in December. Mostly, it has been good to have this time with my daughter…hours spent laughing, watching movies, sewing, crafting, antiquing, looking through racks of clothes at Goodwill, talking, stuff. Stuff that is so much more important than a “to do” list which usually is too long and filled with more than I can accomplish in a year much less a summer. Oh and did I mention our flower garden where we have watched butterflies and bumblebees and small bugs that turn lavender to match the flowers? All of this has been time well spent and we have moments to cherish…
So when the day arrives for her to head back to college I will be thankful that my “to do” list didn’t get in the way of spending time together rather than marking things off a list.
