dreaming

“Some people dream of success while others wake up and work hard at it.”
~ Unknown

Love the quote and it definitely speaks to me right now…I don’t want to sit down and do nothing; I want to keep going full speed ahead to reach my success!

So…I have been busy cleaning, clearing and reconfiguring my workspace.  I am organized…yeah! Finally I have gotten my work space in order and it is so much better. One of the best things I did was create centers…painting/art, sewing, and computer. Cleaning out some of my stuff and organizing supplies, books, sewing, etc has freed up space and given me better work areas. So…back to creating and totally focusing on art and my goals! It always feels wonderful to have things cleaned and put in order.

Along with getting my studio/office space in order I have also been working on goals and getting that plan in order. Putting the plan on paper and telling someone else about it makes it seem much more attainable…

Hope you are dreaming and working hard to get to your success…wherever that takes you! Keep dreaming and keep pursuing…it will happen!

Redesigning a work space…

I’m in the process of  a redesign and reconfiguration of my work space. My furniture is a collection of new and used. I love to shop at junk and antique stores for furniture that can be re-purposed, painted or changed in some way to work for my purposes. Today I am getting a credenza given to me and I hope to work it into my newly created space.

My new work space will have areas for my artwork-drawing and painting, an area for writing and designing, photography, sewing, my computers, and….well you get the picture I love being creative.

For me the important ingredient is not necessarily a piece of furniture, it is making the work area comfortable and a place where I want to be….that way I am actually creating and not wasting time trying to locate supplies or thinking about the clutter. Since I am a visual person, if things are stored in another room out of sight or reach, I tend to forget about them. So the goal in this redesign is simplicity…putting everything within my reach and making the area look and feel like a creative space.

So…here’s the before….keep in mind this is not pretty. The complete redesign will take place over the weekend with pictures to follow.

The cabinets all came from junk stores…I painted the black cabinet, took off the back cover and replaced drawer pulls…the green cabinet is getting a coat of black paint…and the stained cabinet is solid wood so at some point I will sand and apply a lighter stain. The two tall cabinets were entertainment centers and they work great as storage and book shelves.

The corner table is being replaced with the credenza and the computer desk will be decluttered. The only table not being replaced is the one with my sewing machine…that is for another time.  It will be covered with pretty fabric to dress it up.

Color….well that is always a hard decision; however, I love black paired with splashes of bright colors…pinks, yellows, greens…all those colors that make me feel energized.

If the budget allows and I can find a deal…an area rug would also be nice.  I will be hanging my art along with family photos. Adding the credenza definitely gives me more surface area and much needed storage.

So…I am off to move, declutter, rearrange and who knows what else before this redesign is complete.

Hope your holiday weekend is filled with activities that feed your creative spirits!
